We had a great day yesterday at Homecoming. Our special guests for the day were the Calvary Quartet from Greenville, SC. These men were a wonderful blessing to each of us.
We began the day with a combined Sunday School in the auditorium. The Calvary Quartet sang a couple of songs at the beginning which prepared us for the day. I spoke about “Precious Memories,” choosing Deuteronomy 6:20-25. The simple outline was…
1. We need to look back at God’s providence over our life. (v.21)
2. We need to look back at God’s presence in our life. (v.22)
3. We need to look back at God’s provision for our life. (v.23)
4. We need to look back at God’s protection in our life. (v.24)
We began our morning worship service right at 11:00 a.m. when we went on the air live. Our church broadcasts our morning worship services live over WLLY 1350 AM. We began with the Calvary Quartet. Our choir sang a stirring arrangement of “Worship the Lord.” The Calvary Quartet sang a couple of more times. I preached a message on David’s confession after his affair with Bathsheba that I entitled “The Great Homecoming.”
We then went to the gym for a lunch that can only be appreciated if you have ever been to Tabernacle. What I mean by that is that I’ve never been to a church that pulls out all of the stops when it comes to our meals. The gym was decorated beautifully. The meal as promised was absolutely incredible. Almost everyone pitched in at the end to help us put everything back and then we headed back to the auditorium.
For our afternoon service we spent about thirty minutes singing hymn favorites and taking testimonies from the floor. The Calvary Quartet then blessed us with a concert of wonderful conservative gospel music. All in all it was a wonderful day.
