Ephesians 5:14-16 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
There are two Greek words used in the New Testament which are translated time. One is the word chronos. We get our word chronology from this word. It simply means the passing of time such as the passing of seconds, minutes, or hours. That is not the word used in our text. The word translated time in Ephesians 5:16 is the word charas. This literally means opportunities. Paul is commanding the Ephesian believers to redeem or literally buy back the opportunities. In this first message of 2010 we unpacked these verses to discover four truths that we must understand about time if we are going to make the most of our opportunities in 2010.
