Thank you for your continued prayer for our family. The following is the obituary and funeral arrangements for Barbara. A public viewing is available on Tuesday, 12-9pm at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. A Memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, September 25 at Grace Baptist Church. Barbara Harmon Ledbetter, 57, of Irmo, SC, passed into the presence of the Lord on Monday, September 20, 2010. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Heyward and Olive Harmon of Lexington.

She was a graduate of Lexington High School and Winthrop College. She served her community as an elementary school teacher in South Carolina and Texas. A gifted writer, she developed elementary curriculum for Bob Jones University Press in Greenville. She was an active member of Kennerly Road Baptist Church in Irmo, a faithful pastor’s wife, and a loving home-school mom. She loved her Lord, treasured her Bible, and served her Savior. Her greatest desire was to glorify Jesus Christ. She consistently shared her faith with others. Her greatest joy was seeing others come to faith in Him.

She is survived by her husband, Pastor Gary Ledbetter; a daughter, Amy and two sons, Jonathan and Matthew all of Irmo; a sister, Emily Hamby of Lexington; sisters-in-law, Dianne (Brion) Burns of Irmo and Nancy (Robert) Christopher of Summerville; a niece, Alison Burns of Irmo; nephews, Paul (Rebecca) Hamby of Atlanta, Phil (Vicki) Hamby of Lexington, Joshua Burns of Chapin, Ryan Burns of Irmo and Adam (Lori) Christopher of Summerville; three great-nieces and three great-nephews. She was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Bill Hamby, Jr.

A public viewing will be available after 12:00 noon on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. A private graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2010. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Grace Baptist Church, 416 Denham Avenue, West Columbia, SC 29169. Visitation will follow after the service. Memorials may be made to Kennerly Road Baptist Church, 1526 Kennerly Road, Irmo, SC 29063 or to Grace Baptist Church.
